Experienced Project Planner Needed

Project Planner:

Apex is seeking an Assistant Planner proficient in land use policies, property research and permit entitlement for our Tacoma, Washington office. This is a full-time position with benefits. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct background research, data collection, and analysis of general resource and land use topics.
  • Work under the general direction and supervisions of project managers, and principals throughout the company.
  • Contribute to Apex’s long standing professional reputation in land use planning, consulting and research.
  • Prepare reports related to land use research including; zoning, utilities, and permitting processes in various jurisdictions around Washington and Oregon.
  • Draft permit applications and coordinate complete submittal packages.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Travel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in planning, environmental science or a related field along with a minimum of four years of experience is required.
  • Ability to review and comprehend federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations in the Northwest.
  • Excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and grow into increased responsibilities.
  • Prepare a variety of studies, reports, and related information for decision-making purposes.
  • Research planning information and concepts, land use, and legal issues relating to current and long-range planning matters and policy issues.
  • Ability to describe how a land use proposal conforms to established plans and ordinances.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with architects, contractors, developers, owners, supervisors, employees, and the ability to establish effective working relationships.
