Apex Engineering is a consulting firm specializing in civil engineering, surveying, planning and permitting. We are seeking a Land Use Planner proficient in land use policies, property research and permit entitlements for our Tacoma, Washington office. This is a full-time position with a substantial benefit package. Pay will be based on individual qualifications and experience.
Land Use Planner Responsibilities:

Conduct background research, data collection, and analysis of general resource and land use topics

Work under the general direction and supervision of project managers and principals throughout the company

Contribute to Apex’s long standing professional reputation in land use planning, consulting and research

Prepare reports related to land use research including: zoning, utilities, and permitting processes in various jurisdictions around Washington and Oregon

Draft permit applications and coordinate complete submittal packages

Willingness to learn and grow

Land Use Planner Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in Land Planning, a related field or equivalent experience in site development/entitlements

2 - 4 years of experience is required

Experience with in-depth code research, site planning, SEPA applications, feasibility reports and other land use entitlements

Ability to review and comprehend federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations in the Pacific Northwest

Excellent organizational, oral, written, and analytical skills

Ability to effectively work with internal and reviewing agency teams

Ability to manage multiple tasks

Willingness to learn and grow into increased responsibilities
